When it comes to driveways and patios it is now possible to have almost any design you desire and for it to be made of any kind of material you like from slate to general house brick. There are also different styles that are stereotypical of different countries although now it is mainly down to personal preference. The costs obviously will vary from each company as the materials used and experience behind each company will be different.
Below are some of the different styles you can have for your driveways today and the different materials usually used for the different types;
European Fan Style Drive
This is a very popular design with many people and is very decorative in the way that a lot of the shapes are circular and curved. It can be made from various materials from slate to terracotta making it a versatile style. It is different to many other styles in the way that it is more decorative and is commonly used to decorate around fountains and other outdoor decorative pieces. They are also used quite often on the land of grand properties to act as decoration for the centre piece in the yard at the entrance of the home because of its highly decorative style.
Grand Ashler Drive ways
This pattern is traditionally made from slate but now comes in a variety of materials and colours, most are made to look like slate though but cost a lot less money. Unlike the European Fan it is very linear made of different sized square slabs arranged in a geometric pattern.
Herringbone Design for Drives
This is a more straight forward design with it being mainly terracotta used and identical rectangular slabs arranged in the Herringbone pattern. The Herringbone pattern is a series of diagonal lines along side each other made with the slabs. It is used in many industrial settings because of the fact it looks smart but also is not too decorative.
You may have to think about the exterior of your home before deciding on the exact colour and style of the driveway you are going to have built. This is because you wouldn't want to choose a colour or style that clashes with the rest of your house.
